Costume Craft Lab California State University Long Beach August 2015 – December 2017
4 semesters of teaching. Taught basic hand and machine sewing skills. Created a grading rubric. Conducted both group and individual lessons based on different learning needs to ensure all students are learning at their full potential.
Advanced Costume Design California State University Long Beach Spring 2018
Assisted teaching lessons on painting with watercolor and gauche. Critiqued the student’s work and helped them to refine their design ideas for the assigned script. Taught lessons on: the elements of design (line, shape, color, texture, mass), how to break down a script, how to make a dressing sheet, mixing inspiration sources for a show, and how the fit of a costume changes the audience’s perception.
Teaching Internship with Experienced Support Golden West Community College Spring 2018
Observed and assisted Martie Ramm Engle, Chair and professor at Golden West College, in Introduction to Theater and Stage Movement. Taught lessons on: introduction to costume design, what does a costume designer do, what shows are currently running on Broadway, and how a design was successful or not. Assisted in classroom management, classroom safety, and interpersonal student conflict resolution.
